Subject: Lodge Battle and Saving Lucky

>>>>>[ Sorry it took so long for me to tell you all what has been
happening,
but we have been busy trying to free Lucky from that Spider Spirit. I have good
news. It is dead. Between Omen, Tearchild, myself and the rather knowledgable
Brandon Lowe we were able to break it loose without harming Lucky. Let me start
from the beginning.

As you know we went to save Fenris and his Lodge from the massive horde of
Spider spirits that had attacked it. When Omen, Princess, Regent, and I arrived
we found Tearchild battling three of the Spider Spirits with his Spirit Spear
while Fenris and two other Wolf Shamans were doing everything they could to
bolster the strength of their Medicine Lodge. It was looking pretty grim, since
there were about a dozen spirits knicking away at a mana barrier that was just
outside of the Lodge.

Seeing the situation Omen and Princess began to start banishing some spirits
while Regent covered them. I charged over to help Tearchild and the three
spirits died in short order.

Turning back, I found that while Omen and Princess had banished the first two
spirits they attacked, they were being mobbed by almost all of the other
spirits. Regent was doing his best to protect Princess, but there were too
many. However even more importantly a very powerful spider spirit, which thanks
to Brandow Lowe we know is a Free Spider Spirit, raised up its leg and smashed
the Mana Barrier. Tearchild charged towards him, but the spirit ignored him and
smashed the Medicine Lodge. Tearchild reached it and tried to spear him, but
it just dodged his attack, chuckled loadly and took off at fast speed. Two
spider spirits, that had been flanking the big one dissappeared out of astral
space and manifested in the real world.

This was very bad. The three shamans were too tired to fight them, having put
all thier strength into keeping the Lodge intact. Fenris grabbed one of his
fellow shamans and pulled him out of the way of the attacking Spiders. The
second shaman wasn't so lucky as one of them leaped at him and caught him in
its pincers. He screamed out in pain and quickly died from the combonation of
exhaustion, wounds, and poison.

I was already acting on what would be Fenris and the other shaman's only chance
of survival. I charged directly into the melee of mages and spirits yelling to
Princess to look at the Lodge. She glanced in time to see the dead shaman being
tossed to the ground while a spider methodically trapped Fenris and his friend
in a corner. Fenris cast a spell at it, but instead of killing the spirit he
passed out. Princess ordered Regent to go help them.

Regent manifested in elf form right between the spider and its prey, catching
the diving pincers in his hands. He struggled with it for several seconds and
finally pushed it back. Then he shifted to his unicorn form and speared it with
his horn. The spider pulled back wounded but got caught by Regent's powerful
hooves, and died.

Regent turned around to see the other spider on the wall swatting a leg at the
shaman who was using a stick to fend it off. He shifted back to elf form and
launched a flame bolt at it. The flame bolt it squarly, causing quite a bit of
damage. The shaman saw the opprotunity and smashed it with his stick. The
spider dissappeared into ether.

Back in astral space the four of us, once Tearchild joined it took only a little
bit of time to kill off the spirits. We did take some minor wounds, but it was
no real challenge. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ No real challenge? Your kidding, Raven. You almost never get hurt
in
astral combat. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ True, but that's what happens when your paying more attention to
what's
happen elsewhere than your fight.

Moving along to the important stuff, we examined Lucky astrally and found just
what Fenris had said, a spider spirit was trying to merge with her. We decided
that it would be best if we got their physically, so we left Princess and Regent
to guard them while Omen and myself went back to our bodies.

Omen, Nightstalker and I arrived and with the help of the remaining wolf shaman,
got Lucky and Fenris to a safe location. We then let the spider get a good look
at Highlander, which made it rather happy. I don't understand these spiders.

Needless to say, we began to do some serious research, with Tearchild commuting
astrally from Cherokee land, while Omen and myself poured over our conjuring
and magic theory libraries. We had a pretty good idea about how to force it off
when Cerise left her second message. We had missed the first one, since I was
busy and Nightstalker was guarding Highlander.

Nightstalker went to pick her up and arrived a few hours later than he was
supposed to with Cerise and Brandon Lowe. Brandon asked us what we had figured
out and added his own advice. I don't know who he works with, but they have
very good information on Spider Spirits. With is help we were able to sever
the link between Lucky's aura and the spider spirit, at which point Tearchild
and myself stabbed our weapon foci right through the damn thing.

Everyone thank Mr. Brandon Lowe. Without his help I do not think saving Lucky
would have been possible. ]<<<<<
