They're carrying talismans (and have a small bit of magick talent themselves),
and those talismans have a rather different aura. Last time I saw something
like that was when I was doing a favor for Guillermo, and running against
Renraku. I believe Merit and his henchmen have a corporate sponsor.

As far as my comments on the focus, I believe we should do anything but destroy
it. My logic has two facets. One, it would open up the Americium deposit for
rape by whatever entity should be so inclined, and that would cause irreparable
damage to the ley line. Our friends on the Isle would be something less than
pleased were they to discover that we had _anything_ to do with the line's
demise. Two, the focus holds something tantamount to the _soul_ of the late Mr.
T'Hoth. I, for one, don't want to have some sort of spectre hanging about,
seeking revenge for having loosed his essence in a less-than-timely manner. I
also suspect that Merit is the wrong individual to whom to entrust it.

That leaves two options. We could keep it, and all go loopy, or we could find a
safe repository for it. FraterNay, time to 'fess up sweetheart. Who's the
