>>>>>['Tis been a valiant fight... My MPCP and I are still in a state of
shock. It took me a fair bit of rest (and quite a few cups of tea) to calm
down my nerves... But, to business:

After I accessed cyberspace and overrode the cameras, I patched on my audio
feed to Lady Belle and gave her a 15 minute countdown. The Lady Jaez and I
started to wind our way through the Node Catacombs, on the lookout for some
likely looking datastores or for the infamous Midnyght himself.

Soon enough, we were not dissapointed. A man dressed in a silver Samurai
outfit leaped out at us and started hacking away at Lady Jaez with a
computerized mono-katana. I told her to make haste, and drew my own sword -
good European programming. I expertly blocked Midnyght's thrusts, but, alas,
he also parried my blows, leaving us at a standstill.

I ducked and weaved, trying to get an opening, when suddenly a sickly voice
came from his shadowy face. "Look behind youuuuuuu."

"Hah," I said, trying to keep the virtual lump out of my virtual throat,
"I won't fall for something like that, you fiend! have at you!" Immediately
after I said such, I was pounced upon. I felt my cyberjacks starting to
backwash data, the residual start for a Flatline IC. For where I know not,
but I found the speed to activate my Attack program one last time, slicing the
foul beast into a million bytes. No longer in a cheerful or sporting mood,
I screamed and lunged at my foe (sorry to have scared you, Lady Belle..) He
seemed about to attack when he sudenly stopped and ran. Not at all carfully
I persued him, screaming, "Come back you coward! Fight like a man, if ye be
one!"

It was then that I noticed his construct was becoming vaguely transparent.
He had bolted into a dead-end I/OP, and was crumpled into a corner. I
watched as the fiend convulsed into death throes... Alas, as much as his
honour was tainted, it is a horrible thing to see death in cyberspace. His
MPCP reacted all too graphically to what must have been sheer and unadultered
pain.

After a moment, I composed myself and checked my hat. (The feather on my
persona's cap is a sort of damage monitor - red when my deck is at "full" to
deep violet when it is almost close to crash.) The feather was deep blue.
I decided to leave the data gathering to Lady Jaez and jacked out, signalling
Lady Belle to pick me up.

We left the compound in a haze. I dont remember if I heard klaxons or just
imagined them, but luckily there was no need for my real-life combat skills.

Right when I was about to post about the run, Lady Jaez showed me some of the
data she obtained from the stronghold. The ramifications are, if true,
astounding. I would be hard-pressed to post my opinions here if what I
believe is true. Lords and Ladies, suffice it to say that the Bovarians may
be involved, one of the oldest corporations in the world...

M'lady Jaez, mayhaps ye have some more of that tonic about your flat? I'm
feeling a bit light-headed again...]<<<<<

beyond
one mere corporation. And bring money -- my deck is so bad off that I'm about
to get the leeches and start bloodletting it...

I love you.]<<<<<
