>>>>>[Gryphon here. I've spent most of my waking hours this past week
working
with that material in which the _objects d'art_ were wrapped. My conclusions,
which can best be described only as hypotheses, not theories, follow:

The wrapping is made of three distinct layers. There is a thin, inner solid
layer, a layer of gaseous material between, and the thicker outer layer.
Analysis of each of these has been undertaken, and studies continue.

The outer layer is of a material similar to the old fabric Kevlar. Its primary
purpose seems to be protection from external ballistic attack. It is coated
with an extremely thin layer of anodized Hg/Cd alloy (mercury/cadmium) which
acts as an acceptable and rather cheap mirror surface. The purpose of this
surface is most likely to reflect all types of energy (light, heat, magick?)
away from the wrapped object. This does add the disadvantage, however, of
making any wrapped object not encased in yet another package a rather shiny and
quite noticeable object. The fibres of this fabric are made of an interesting
combination of spun nylon/rayon/teflon with the addition of microfilament
zirconium and natural wool.

(FraterNay, your inquiry was whether or not I could make more of this material.
The synthetics are no problem, but I'll leave it to you where to get microfine
Zr, and worse yet, natural (and I mean virgin) wool. - GkS)

The inner layer can be best described as cheap latex sheeting. Big deal.

The gaseous layer is an interesting combination. It consists of a mixture of
NO2/N2O4 (laughing gas for the uninitiated), mustard gas (a noxious but not not
deadly mix), and (surprise, surprise) volatilized Americium. I think the Am is
used to adsorb, not absorb, the magickal energies of the items, and the
laughing/mustard gas is to deter the would-be lightfingerers. Notice the word
adsorb. This is essentially tantamount to what your charcoal odor eaters do.
They adsorb odors. They also reach a saturation point, and after that are
useless. They cannot be recharged. In this case, the wrapping will become
"saturated" with residual energy and be useless. It might also create something
a bit difficult to dispose of.

Back to the lab. I'll report more later if necessary.]<<<<<
