>>>>>[ Well that was one hell of a trip. Remind me to never go on an
astral
quest to the Metaplane of Spiders. That place was just damn creepy.

The five of us projected to the Metaplane and met at the Dweller on the
Threshold's place. Raven, Blitzkrieg and myself were being guarded by
Nightstalker while Fenris and Brandon Lowe came from elsewhere.

The first freaky things was the fact that the dweller came out looking like
Spectre. Raven jumped and almost took a swing at him. Fenris bowed his head
and began to play with this really wierd looking knife he had with him. Blitz
looked alittle pained and I have no idea how I looked. Brandon seemed to take
it all in stride. Smug little bastard.

The dweller than began to totally embarrass us by telling our deepest darkest
secret out load so everyone could hear. That reminded me why I always do
astral quest alone. It's bad enough having your deepest secrets told to
yourself, but having four other people along!

After embarrassing us the dweller sent us on little missions. Blitzkrieg had
to "get the essense of lightning" form what I could only call a lightning
elemental. Brandon had to use his knowledge of insects to work his way through
a beehive. Fenris, the lucky ork, battled some spiders. Raven had to talk
her way past a guard. I got had to recite a very difficult Elven poem. That
dweller assigns some damn weird quest.

Our first stop on the trip was the Place of Magic. This place was a snap.
At least it was for Raven and me. Actually Blitzkreig didn't have much trouble
either. Fenris turned to to be a pretty bad sorcerer and got pretty winded.
Brandon must specialize in rituals because he wasn't too hot either.

Next stop was the Place of Charisma. This place was a joke. We had to talk
our way out of getting arrested for murder. The others weren't doing a half
bad job but nothing can sweet talk your way out of trouble like a pretty elven
street mage.

The last stop before the Citadel was the Place of Battle. I hated this place.
It was like a fragging rerun of that battle we had at the ritual. Yes, I know
I was unconcious during that, but I saw the tape. Spiders everywhere! And
hordes of Wasp too! And they were all trying to kill each other and us. Raven
and Fenris were having no trouble slashing there way around with their weapon
foci but the rest of us had to use our skill and spells. Blitzkrieg was crazy,
forking lightning bolts to whip out 2 spirits at once. Brandon was having a
hard time bringing himself to kill Wasps that were attacking him. I was having
a hard time avoiding getting my guts splashed across the area. Once Raven
noticed I was in trouble she came over and helped, but I still took a could of
wounds. Reguardless we won. Blitzkrieg was suffering form his overzealous use
of spells, but no one else besides myself was hurt.

Winning in the Place of Battle lets you go straigth to the main event, The
Citadel. For all you non-initiate and non-magicians out there, the Citadel is
where the goal of your quest awaits you. For us it was one bad nasty Free
Spider Spirit. She was not very happy to see us here. However we had the upper
hand. We had her True Name and out numbered her five-to-one. Turned out we
could have used a sixth member.

Upon seeing the spider appear Fenris went wild and attacked it alone. He went
in swing the knife he had screaming. The spider dodged several times and then
swiped him hard with a leg. It would have gone in for the kill but Blitzkrieg
and Brandon both tossed some spells at it while Raven charged into melee. It
destoryed the spells quickly but had to fight Raven.

While Brandon and Blitzkrieg went to join Raven in melee, I went to see to
Fenris. He had received a rather nasty hit and wasn't looking too well. I
helped him up and wished we were in a physical Place so I could heal him. Since
I couldn't we rushed into the fight.

The three were doing a pretty good job keeping the spider off focus. Raven was
doing in your face action forcing it to pay alot of attention to her, but
Brandon had some really nasty Spirit Bolt he was tossing at it. I wonder why
he didn't use that at the ritual? Reguardless, he was taking almost all the
rest of it's attention. This was allowing Blitzkrieg to slip in and give it
a minor wound every now and then. I slipped in to do the same and got swatted
for my trouble. Guess I forgot my wounds from the Place of Battle. Right after
it hit me it got a good shot on Blitzkrieg when he tried for another cheap shot.
I guess the bitch wasn't too dumb.

It ended up not mattering that Blitzkrieg and myself were rather badly injured
at this point. With Raven and Brandon doing such a good job keeping it busy,
Fenris decided this would be a good time for a suicide attack. He leaped in,
not bothering to defend himself. Got speared on a leg for his trouble. The
damn Wolf shaman didn't seem to mind. He just pushed himself a little closer
and began to carve the Spider into little pieces. That knife he brought with
him was damn effective too. I guess building a weapon focus to kill on
particular spirit does wonders, because it took him only two slashed to kill it
and the other five were for vengence.

Of course before we could do anything else we were whisked back to our bodies.
We were astral for a good 26 hours. However alittle healing and we were all
good as new. Still I wonder how Fenris is doing. ]<<<<<
