There are some interesting parts that need to be explained and explored. First
of all, the original MagnaTech toasters were not all that intelligent, all they
would do is ask you how you would like your toast done. With the addition of
the fragmented Monica/Rufus coding, the toaster received a higher order of
intelligence. From the Rufus part it received a desire for everyone to be
happy, and from the Monica side it got the small fanaticism that always makes it
keep on asking if you would like anymore toast. The Cerek/Upload part I believe
invested Talky with a little better understanding of people, enough to be a
breakfast companion to people who are cheerful and love to eat a lot, in ther
words CRUSH. The last part, the actual Talky is really just a header for what
each of those codes together had become, the were still the seperate code
fragments along with the combined Talky coding. What Dante did was to make the
Monica coding supercede the Talky coding in importance. He basically made a
minor personality into the major one.


With his short out during the incident, Talky's remaining code fragments of
Rufus/Monica and Cerek/Upload totally degenerated away leaving only the Talky
part. But since this Talky part was already a fully functional personality with
out need of the other sub-personality partial codings, nothing much has changed
in his make up. Talky seems to be back to his normal Chirpy self, and will be
intergrated into the household systems again in a few days. It probably won't
take him long to reaquaint himself with the matrix and start asking people if
they want toast. Don't worry about partial or total reprogramming like Dante
did though, Talky really only has one code now and this one is basically tamper
proof. Even if he was tampered with, it would be like trying to take over the
matrix with fuchi-4 without any programs or programing skill, you really can't
conceiveably do it. All Dante really did was get lucky in making the Monica
coding dominant, this coding though had the ability to program like a decker or
AI, while the Talky part does not have this capability. Before Talky was
inbetween an expert system and an AI, somewhat akin to the Renraku
Semi-Autonomous-Know-Bots, now he is inbetween SAKB's and an expert Systems
toaster, not even close to being on the level of Harlequin's
