>>>>>[ There are other Special Air Services as well, which have, or used to
have connections with the British Army SAS. There are SAS regiments in
Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia, I believe. But none are as famous
(or perhaps, notorious) as the 22nd Regiment of the Bristish Army. To even
be considered for addmittance to the Regiment, you need to march almost 50
miles over the Welsh mountains, within 24 hours, carrying a heavy rucksack,
packed with supplies and ammunition, and carrying a heavy assault rifle.
Furthermore, you are meant to be able to do this without any augmentation,
cyberware or bioware. Candidates who already have had cyber/bio-ware installed
that may give them an advantage must do a longer march. Joining the SAS is a
bad move career-wise, as you start off at the lowest rank upon joining,
although, when you are transferred back to your original regiment, you will
regain your previous rank. The training is gruesome, and taxing. However,
the SAS are the elite of the special forces. They can put the Commandos, the
Rangers, the Green Berets, Delta Force and any shadowrunning team you care
to mention to shame. They are equipped with the best equipment available, and
their cyberware is top of the range, generally supplied by Transys Neuronet.
They are _the_ best, and the few ex-SAS soldiers who have entered the shadows
are probably the most feared shadowrunners in Europe. Oh yeah, and they have a
cool motto: "Who Dares, Wins".

I'll tell you this much, if I ever came across an SAS soldier, or an ex-SAS
soldier, I would be damned careful, coz these guys are trained killers. They
don't take hostages, as has been demonstrated dozens of times, when they've
been called in to break terrorist sieges. I remember once, a bunch of Deep
Green terorists took over the Italian Embassy in London, and held the staff
hostage, threatening to kill them all unless the Italian government stopped
something or other that was polluting the Med. Anyway, there were seven
terrorists, but after the SAS came out, only one was still alive, and that was
only because he'd been protected by some of the women staff, who had a soft
spot or something for him. I am telling you, the SAS kicks ass.]<<<<<
