unit.
I don't think that the GSG-9 guys were really soldiers. They're more kinda
like glorified SWAT teams, dealing with hijackings and sieges, and so on,
whereas the SAS, as well as being internationally renowned as siegebreakers,
(they often go to other countries to break sieges, at the invitation of the
government there. In fact, I seem to remember something about an Israeli
airliner that was hijacked by Palestinian guerrillas back in the 1970's or 80's
that was chased around the world by the SAS and they finally caught up with it
in Germany, and, instead of GSG-9, or the Israeli special forces going in, it
was the SAS. I'm not too sure about that one, though...) they are damned good
soldiers as well, and specialise in going in deep behind enemy lines. Back in
the 1980's it was Major Michael Rose, commanding officer of the SAS in the
Falkland Islands conflict between Argentinia and Britain, who accepted the
Argentinian surrender on the islands. And, of course, their involvement in
the EuroWars is fairly famous by now. In fact, I think that the only place
you could claim they were defeated was in Northern Ireland, but at that time,
they were combatting magic, with no magical firepower of their own. Now, of
course, they have within their ranks some of the best combat mages in the
world. ]<<<<<
