The static resolves into a black and white image. Seattle, downtown, or close
to it,
judging by the number of corp suits milling around in the streets. It is,
oddly enough,
a warm spring day, and the warm weather fashions are making themselves seen.

After panning around in a general sweep, the camera zooms in on a dark blue
van parked
on the side of the street. As you watch, the side door opens and three people
emerge.
You recognize them as Chance, Widow, and Blaze. They glance around, and begin
walking
towards a sidewalk cafe near the van. The camera follows them as they walk.

CHANCE: Rox, are we coming in?
ROX: Yeah Chance. Loud 'n clear.

The three runners pause at the entrance to the cafe, and then they move
towards a table
where a woman dressed in dark clothes and wearing mirrorshades is seated. They
sit down,
and the woman takes a manilla envelope from a bag at her side.

WOMAN: You must be Chance and Company. Where is the rest of the team?
CHANCE: Our decker is currently working on other projects.
WOMAN: Yes... the one known as Coyote. What about your rigger, the ork Rox?
CHANCE: You are remarkably well informed.
WOMAN: I make it my business to know who I'm dealing with. These other two
must be
Widow and Blaze, tech and magic specialists.
CHANCE: Yes. You have a proposal for us?
WOMAN: Yes I do. Glance through the contents of this envelope.

The suit hands the envelope across the table to Chance, who opens it and
withdraws a
stack of papers. On the top is a handwritten note. The camera zooms in farther
to read
it.

"Do not react to this note. This meet is a set-up. There are currently two
snipers with
guns pointed at your heads. Continue to behave as if nothing were unusual.
Laurissa."

Chance glances up at the suit, and then pages through the remainder of the
documents.
He hands them to Blaze, who does the same.

CHANCE: So what do you want us to do?
WOMAN: I thought that was made clear in those documents,
CHANCE: Yes, there is certainly lots of information there, but I would like
specifics.
WOMAN: It is all in the file.
CHANCE: Yes, I am sure. Very well, shall we discuss payment?
WOMAN: The fee is as stated in our communication through Mr. Warehouse.
CHANCE: Well, this job requires a bit of negotiation.
WOMAN: Does it really? Would you like to pay in BLOOD?

The woman suuddenly pushes the table over, and pushes Blaze out of the way. A
bullet
strikes the ground where he had been sitting a moment earlier. Another shot
rings out
almost immedeately, narrowly missing Chance.

Pandemonium erupts as corporate suits scatter, overturning tables, spilling
food,
knocking one another down in their rush to reach safety.

CHANCE: WHAT THE FRAG IS GOING ON?
WOMAN: CHANCE, IT'S VENGEANCE! HE SET THIS UP TO GET BLAZE!
CHANCE: WHAT?!?!?!
WOMAN: IT'S ME! LAURI! COME ON! LET'S GET TO SAFETY!

The woman grabs Chance by the arm and draws a pistol with her other hand.

WOMAN: WIDOW! BLAZE! COME ON!

The four press their way through the panicking crowd. Another shot rings out,
and a man
falls, his shirt stained red. People press each other, trying to take cover
from the
shots.

A siren is heard in the distance, over screams of the crowd. Someone has
called the
Star, and they are responding. The team is pressed away from the van they have
been
struggling towards.

CHANCE: ROX! GET THE VAN OUT! WE'LL MEET UP LATER!
ROX: I WON'T LEAVE YOU GUYS!
CHANCE: DON'T PLAY HERO! GET GOING!
ROX: ALL RIGHT, CHANCE, YOU'RE DA BOSS. BUT I'M LEAVIN DA DRONE TA KEEP AN EYE
OUT!

The van peels out, swerving through the traffic. The drone begins circling,
the camera
zooming out to get a wide angle view of the scene. It catches sight of one
gunman on
a rooftop nearby. The drone zooms in for a closer look.

ROX: FOUND ONE CHANCE! I'M GONNA TAKE HIM OUT!

There is the stutter of burst fire, and the gunman staggers. He sees the drone
and
takes a shot at it with his rifle, but misses. The drone fires again, and the
gunner
staggers closer to the edge of the building. Trying to keep his balance, he
drops the
rifle. Flainling his arms, he stumbles and falls over the edge. There are
several
screams as he hits the ground.

The drone zooms back out and searches the buildings again for signs of the
team. It
finds them climbing up a fire escape. Chance is the first one up, followed
closely by
the others. They all have pistols drawn now.

CHANCE: All right, let's go. We gotta get out of here!

The team starts running across the rooftops, away from the chaos in the street
below.
Shots ricochet off the pavement, and the camera swoops to show three figures
chasing
the team.

CHANCE: Damnit... what did we do to deserve this?
BLAZE: I was asking myself the same thing, Chance.

The team reaches the edge of the building. Lauri jumps across without a second
thought.
The others are close behind. Their persuants stop at the edge a few seconds
later and
take a few shots at the team. Blaze staggers.

WIDOW: BLAZE!!!
BLAZE: I'm all right! Keep going!

The would-be assassins leap across the gap themselves, one of them stumblng as
he hits
the opposite roof, and the chase continues. Bullets flying in both directions.

A wider gap is reached, and the team leaps across. However, just as Chance
leaps, a
shot grazes his arm and his jump is poor. He hits the opposite side at about
his waist
and he slides down, grabbing onto the edge with his cyberarm.

CHANCE: FRAG!
BLAZE: HOLD ON GUYS, WE GOTTA GET HIM!
CHANCE: FORGET ME! IT'S YOU THEY'RE AFTER! GET GOING!
WIDOW: NO WAY, OLD MAN! YOU'RE NUMBER ISN'T UP YET!

The enemy runners stop and begin shooting. Bullets ping off the wall as Lauri
and
Blaze try hauling Chance up. Widow lays down some cover fire, and a couple of
her
shots find their targets. The targets, however, are armored, so her shots do
little.
Another bullet catches Chance in the leg and he grunts in pain, his arm losing
its
grip. Fortunately, Lauri and Blaze catch him and haul him up onto the roof.

The drone dives down, and there is the stutter of burst fire. Bullets strike
the
ground near the assassins, and a couple strike as the targets dive to the side
to
avoid the drone's submachine gun.

The drone swoops away, and the chase resumes. The team approaches another
building
edge. The next building is three stories higher, and the team stops, looking
around
for a means of escape. Lone Star sirens can be heard from the ground below,
and the
sound of a helicopter is also in the air.

CHANCE: What now?

On the rook of the next building, a figure steps into view. He laughs as he
sees the
team's perdicament.

LAURI: Vengeance.
VENGEANCE: Well, William Spiritsong. I have found you. The game is mine.
BLAZE: Not if I can help it.
VENGEANCE: Oh, but you can't. There is no escape. I'll leave your friends to
the Bayou
Boys. They aren't too happy about what you've done to their friend. But you
will
be my prize. I will take your head home to the Lodge and show them all that
I
follow through on my promises.
CHANCE: You're really sick, you know that?
VENGEANCE: *laugh* Perhaps, Chance. Perhaps. But I am also victorious.

Vengeance begins waving his arms and chanting.

BLAZE: HE'S CASTING! WATCH OUT!

Lauri glances around. On one side, the Bayou Boys, grinning. On the other, the
wall of
an apartment building.

LAURI: On my word, jump!

The drone dives in, hoping to distract the shaman before he can complete the
spell.

LAURI: NOW! JUMP!

Lauri runs and jumps across the gap, straight through a window. It shatters
with a
loud crash, and she is through. The rest of the team follows her lead, diving
across
the gap through other windows next to it, just as the guns on the drone fire,
catching
Vengeance in the leg. He roars, and turns his spell on the drone. There is a
blast of
light, and then...
