>>>>>[Whew... finally I get a chance to catch my breath... I know that all
of
you guys here were left hanging when the transmission was cut off the other
day... so I'm here to let you know what happened.

We had jumped through the window on the opposite side, and were picking
ourselves up off the floor. Fortunately, the apartment was unoccupied. I
glanced back and saw the drone plummet past the window. I drew my gun and
looked back. The Bayou Boys were gathering themselves for the pursuit.

"Come on!" I yelled. "Let's get out of here!"

The other guys moved. We burst out of the apartment and headed for the stairs.
We heard the crash of the runners behind us, and gunshots sounded as well.
There were screams and crashing, and some curious folk poked their noses out
of their apartments. Most of them, seeing a group of leather-clad, armed
runners, ducked right back inside and locked their doors.

I was still in shock that Lauri was back... I mean, the last I had heard, she
was down in the Carib league. I hadn't heard from her since Coyote's failed
attempt to find info on Mrs. McClure's murder. It was a big suprise, and I
knew I wasn't the only one feeling it.

We made the fire stairs just as an alram began sounding. Somebody had hit a
panic button, and with all the activity in the area, the Star would be on top
of us pretty quick. I laid down a couple shots to cover the others as they
went through the door, but I knew that we couldn't take them. They had armor
and big guns. The biggest thing we had was my Predator, and we were only in
armored clothing. We're not stupid.

Anyhow, we ran down the stairs, the Bayou boys a flight behind us. They had
pretty much stopped shooting since they couldn't get a clear chance, but they
were still on our tails.

Down four floors... the parking garage. We burst out to find a Lone Star
patrol car there, with two officers. They brought their guns up, ready to take
us down. Before I could do anything, Lauri stepped in. She held up her hands
and called out, "Hold it, they're my security squad. I'm being chased by four
people who are trying to kill me. We aren't the danger here, they are."

The cops didn't fire, and even relaxed. Another patrol car screeched into the
garage, and the officers also got their guns out. But I guess Lauri's corp
suit appearance convinced them we were not the problem.

We didn't wait to thank them. We took cover, just as the Bayou Boys came
through the door. The cops fired... but the runners were too quick. They
ducked back through the door, but not before they took a couple hits
themselves. One of them tossed a smoke grenade to cover their flight.

We used the chaos to slip out. We've spent the last couple days setting up a
safe house to stay in until this whole mess is sorted out. We've got people
out looking for Vengeance and his Bayou Boys, and when we find them we'll hit
them... hard.

So everybody's ok... we took a few hits, but we're all still alive. Don't
worry about that.]<<<<<
