Dante, by using those bloody frames of his, was able to amass a large database
on Central and the corp that we run and use to sheild us. He almost suceeded
in distributing this data to all the corporate and governmental security
concerns worldwide, which would have ruined us, even more totally than the last
time we shut down. Currently, we are losing about an agent a day somewhere in
world and we need to remedy this. We are testing the new brain-lock designs,
but there are still some bugs.
Diana, this is where you come in. You designed the original spell, along with
Roxey there, and so the two of you will be given the new designs and asked to
work the bugs out of them. The old ones killed the agent if they were mind-
probed. Versions 2.0-4.6 gradually were able to hide the traces of the spell's
being cast until they look now like the agent was just magically healed at some
point in their past. The drain is getting REALLY bad, but we have finally
reached version 5.0, which is what you will be given. It's designed to hide
the memories beneath a magical barrier indistinguishable from normal memories
so that even the most powerful mindprobe, physical torture, etc will still only
be able to access the memories that the spell lets through. We want you to
find the holes in the design and close them.
Slash, we want you and AJ to run a full penetration attempt of all our main
North America outlets. Starting in Seattle. Let them know EXACTLY when you
plan on doing this the first time, and see how they react. Then proceed as you
see fit. The idea is to force every outlet to learn from the others. We are
having you two do it because we know you won't run lethal, either of you. But
be aware that the guards are still packing normal loads. It'll be safe for us
but dangerous for you, so be careful. All the data from the runs will be
loaded into our databanks so all the outlets will get that much better. If
you need/want Diana and Roxey to help you, then they're yours, AFTER they have
perfected this version of the spell. Run every scheme you can think of and
we'll see how good our security really is. I figure it should take around 3
