Subject: The destruction of Chicago...

>>>>>[+++++ Open Direct Patch: NBS News
(The scene is the main news studio from Chicago NBS news. Sitting at a desk
is Hugh Johnthorpe, looking VERY distraught)

...I repeat, there are reports of very large insects taking over Chicago. This
is not a hoax. All over Chicago, there are reports of insects attacking
just about anything _moving_. Death counts are unknown, but most certainly
in at least the hundreds. Matrix feeds from some areas are unreliable. We
take you now to Michael Updike in the NBS news helicoptor...

(Scene change: there is now a view from a helicoptor looking over the city.
There seem to be hundreds of small specks flying around, looking at this
distance to be flies.)

<voice over> Hugh, at approximately 10:40 AM, there was almost an explosion
from the corner of Madison and Sangamon, the site of a Universal Brotherhood
warehouse. From the explosion came HUNDREDS of large insects, some
cockroaches, some mantises, some flies, some termites, some others.
There are no reports of survivors on the scene of the explosion, though
there seem to have been two Knight Errant trucks sitting at the site.
In the mean time, there is chaos in the city. The insects, which have
been confirmed to be insect spirits, are now killing anything they see.
Death counts...excuse me a second...for the love of God! Hugh, death
counts are confirmed to be above a thousand over the last half an hour.
God...

Bill, go down a little bit, I want a better shot, and I want to see if
there's anyone down there anymore. Bill, GO.

(The helicoptor grudglingly goes down. More details are seen as the
helicoptor gets lower; the insects seem bigger, streets are becoming
visible. The buildings are looking destroyed in many areas.)

Oh God, the destruction is...

(As the helicoptor continues to descend, human bodies can be made out
among the debris. Also, one human is made out to be alive.)

Bill...is that a woman? My God...go down. We're getting her. We're
going to get her out of this...

(The helicoptor begins a rapid descent towards the woman. As the camera
gets closer [it seems to be mounted on the helicoptor and controlled byt
the rigger controlling it], the woman is seen as a young black woman,
looking almost sick.)

Lady...get on! We're getting you out of here!

(The helicoptor finally hits the ground with a thump. The woman, seeing
what looks to be a rescuer, sprints to the helicoptor, jumps on. The
helicoptor then begins to rise rapidly.)

Bill...GO GO GO!! My God, lady, what happened down there?

<different voice> Sir, I think we're being pursued.

(The camera view changes. As the helicoptor rises, a flying cockroach
spirit is coming towards the helicoptor at high speeds.)

Oh my god...we're going to die...BILL! GO! Does this thing have any
weapons?

<Bill> Just one. Locking on...firing.

(A small machine gun begins firing from the helicoptor at the spirit.
It is directly hit. However, it also seems to do little damage to it.)

<Bill> Dammit, no damage! Mike, there's a few guns in the back. You
and the lady grab 'em, fire at that thing.

(There are sounds of movement. Then a scream.)

<Bill> Mike! Mike! Are you there, buddy! What's going on...oh my
God...the lady...

(There is a scream from the back of the helicoptor, sounding
almost...insect. Suddenly, there is another scream, this time from
Bill.)

(The camera, now no longer moving at all, watches as the spirit comes up
and rips it off.)

(Scene change: back at the newsdesk. Hugh is looking to the side in
shock.)

My god...they killed him! They killed Mike! Oh God, oh God...

(There are suddenly some scraping noises.)

What's that? What's that! The door...look at the door...

(The camera turns quickly towards the door. The door is being ripped
apart...and suddenly explodes inwards. Into the room comes a large
termit spirit.)

My God!

(The spirit rushes towards the camera, and past it.)

(There are sounds of screaming.)

(The camera suddenly stops broadcasting.)
