Hello again from the Boston Metroplex. My name is Charlie Fingers, and I will
be your tour guide through the recent problems in Boston.

Earlier at around midnight, local time, the entire Boston Metroplex began
experiencing intermittant power failures. Shiawase Power is reported to be
working on the problem, but the failures continue, with increasing regularity
and downtime.

The Police and emergency services are still virtually stymied in the clearing
out of gridlock from the collapse of all traffic systems in the city. Local
hospitals are rapidly filling to capacity and the Police have warned all
citizens to remain indoors for thier safety. A curfew was imposed last night
at 8 PM EST due to widespread unopposed looting.

Furthermore, as you can see behind me...

+++++The camera angle changes slightly, angling off over the city to a dark,
almost blood red glow in the direction of Boston Harbor.

...there was a further collapse of transit systems tonight. At 2:13 AM, EST,
the automated docking system maintained by Mitsuhama Computer Technologies
collapsed, causing several minor collisions and 4 injuries. Until 2:21 AM,
when a supertanker carrying over 100 million liters of partially refined oil
collided with a cargo vessel carrying wheat and tore a gash in the side of the
tanker one quarter its total length. Unfortunately, what was immediately a
terrible environmental disaster was worsened by the subsequent fuel explosion
on the cargo vessel, which ignited the oil from the tanker. The glow you see
is the fire, currently covering almost half of Boston Harbor in burning oil.

The gash in the tanker's side was so large that it emptied over 20 million
liters of oil into the Harbor, but through the tremendous daring of the crew,
was able to maneuver out of the fire before a possible explosion released the
rest of the oil and possibly sending burning oil over the entire waterfront.

The crew of the cargo vessel were not so lucky. When thier fuel exploded, they
were caught in the conflagration and a subsequent grain explosion and fire
totally destroyed the vessel, sending it to the bottom of the harbor.

The local traffic problems have not affected the harbor fireboats, and they
are working on the problem as well as they can. However, the most effective
attempts at stopping the spread of burning oil, projected to burn for at least
another 3 days, has been local mages and shamans, working together to clean
up and put out the fire. However, due to the tremendous size of the fire and
limited number of magicians available or willing to work, as well as the
highly toxic nature of the smoke that has buried the city under a cloud that
even now, at 8:48 AM EST, the sun cannot penetrate, the independant magicians
and even the fire department is only able to do so much. It is very likely
that this fire will burn itself out and take with it much of the Harbor.

This has been Charlie Fingers, coming to you from the scene of yet another
terrible metroplex tragedy, Boston.
