which Maxim can be put in thier place, at least in the Nuke regard.
I'm going to post a delay post here tonight so that there's a real reason
to delay the Nuke test until more people are around again(figure a week
or two), as Maxim couldn't possibly hide a nuke test from the world for
long. And it'll also give us all time to come up with ideas on the
completion of this particular plotline.
Now, my ideas:
1: Maxim and SI are currently engaged in a shadowy conflict with each
other which will hopefully provide dramatic tension for a long time to
come. One of the ideas is that the Big 8 provide SI with support for a
corporate raid on Maxim, probably one of the more important but not vital
instalations, to send the appropriate message. This would lead to the
Big 8 allowing Maxim to keep thier nukes(figure 5 or 6 total), but no
more, and one of the conditions would likely be the consolidation of
the nukes to a central location. As this would be unreasonable to
most of the characters, the characters would perform a run on the
facility and either destroy the nukes individually or the entire facility.
2: The Big 8 destroy all the facilities where any nukes or the capablity
to make more exists. This would be bad and could lead to Maxim's "Blow
up everything" mentality. I'm not willing to sacrafice Maxim at this
point, so this idea, at least in this extreme of a version, is not an option.
3: The Big 8 hire many teams of runners to penetrate the nuke facilities
and do the same thing, but selectively, leaving the rest of the
facilities intact. Surgical strikes at weapons and manufacturing/
refining only. Powerful message, good results, and a lot of potential
interaction with the characters on the list.
4: The Big 8 decide to send a messsage as in #1, but do it themselves
like they did to Aztechnology in the Aztlan sourcebook. Again, one of
the terms is consolidation of the nukes, and the runners, perhaps
supported somwhat by SI, wipe them out.
5: The Big 8 get all fired up to splat Maxim, and decide not to when
Maxim offers to consolidate the nukes and processing facilities into a
single location, which then gets splattered by the runners.
6: Same idea as 5, but instead the runners are provided with heavy
support from the Big 8.
More ideas would be appreciated, as I'm sure that there are diverging
opinions on this particular matter. I'm willing to compromise quite a
bit, but I will not allow Maxim to be blasted back into the stone age.
Of the ideas I listed above, I happen to like #4 the most.
