As to the question of banshees and vampiric elves, I should point out that the
bulk of Thaumaturgic thought about HMHVV (which, i should point out, has so
far resisted the best efforts at fully understanding its effects) suggests that
the manifestation of the "vampirism" is likely to be different in each
individual. While some evidence suggests that HMHVV can have an unbalancing
effect on the intellect, it is by no means clear that this happens in all
cases. The well-known conjecture that HMHVV-infected elves become "banshees"
may be only that, speculation.

So, is anyone in the scholarly regime investigating this interesting little
