got out over the airwaves, so I figured I had better post it for all to see.
+++++Begin Video Feed
Image brightens slightly to reveal an overcast sky outside the Opera House
at the Seattle Center. DIrectly in front of the camera is a youngish
looking man in a conservative suit. He smiles at the camera and begins
speaking.
"This is Paul Kelsey with KONG News live at the Seattle Center, where in a
short time, Chief Moses of the Salish-Shidhe Council will present
commendations to representitives of various Seattle corporations for their
efforts in promoting the relationship between the various branches of humanity.
"The delegates have been arriving for the past three quarters of an hour,
dodging the odd showers that the unpredictable Seattle weather has be doling
out all day today. So far the envoys from Turkana, Gaeatronics and several
other minor corps have arrived. We have not yet seen Chief Moses, but he
may, wait a moment.
"I have just received word that Chief Moses, and the rest of the
Salish-Shidhe delegation has entered the Center and are approaching the
Opera House."
Image changes to a plain black limousine moving slowly towards the Opera
House.
Paul Kelsey's voice continues, "As you can see, Chief Moses is approaching
the Opera House now, or so we believe. As you all know, he is also the
Salish-Shidhe's ambassador to Seattle, and carries quite a bit of clout in
the political arena."
The image shows the car pulling up to a side entrance of the Opera House.
Several Native and Metahuman's, obviously security people exit from the car
and begin checking the area. One gives a signal to someone still in the
car, and Chief Jon Moses emerges from the vehicle and rushes into the building.
"Now that Chief Moses has arrived, let's turn it over to Michele Roy, inside
the hall itself. Michelle..."
The image changes to a rather attractive middle aged woman, her
reddish-brown hair arranged stylishly. She is wearing a conservative dress
suit. Behind her you can see a crowd of people milling around. Most are
well dressed, and fashionable. The woamn begins to speak.
"Thank you Paul, and welcome to the Seattle Opera House, where in a few
minutes we hope for the ceremony to begin. As you can see, there is quite a
crowd of people here today. Most, if not all, of whom are here by
invitation only. As I understand it, the ceremony was at first going to be
public, open to all. However, a series of terrorist threats against the
Salish-Shidhe and the corporations they plan to honor forced these to become
semi-private, though they did allow for media coverage. According to the
brief we were given by a man known as Crusader, the Chief of Security for
Chief Moses, '...After reviewing the possibility of harm coming not only to
Jon Moses, but to the heads of the corporations we intend to honor, we have
been forced to conclude that the only possible way to ensure their safety is
to close the ceremony's themselves. We regret having to do this, but we do
feel it is necessary. We will of course allow the media to be present to
film this historic occaision...' Mr. Crusader went on to outline the
security procedures that had been developed for this occaision. While he
did not go into great detail, he did say that security would be provided by
a combination of Lone Star SWAT teams, Council Warriors and security
detachments from the various corporations involved."
Behind the woman, on the stage, you notice people coming out and seating
themselves in the chairs set there. After a moment the person who was seen
earlier exiting the limo outside steps through the curtains beside the stage
and sits next to the podium.
"It looks like Chief Moses has arrived, and I am told the ceremony is about
to begin."
The house lights dim, and a spot light appears on the podium. An Elf of
apparently Native origin steps to the microphone. "On behalf of the
Salish-Shidhe Council, I would like to welcome you to this historic
ceremony. But rather than go on about it myself, I will turn the microphone
over to the man who deserves the credit for this gathering. He has long
been known as a voice of reason in these troubled times. For years he has
led the people of Council Island to protect what they believe in. He has
also served as an emissary to the people of Seattle, bringing a message of
friendship. I present to you Chief Jon Moses."
The applause as the Native man next to the podium rises is almost deafening.
He shakes the hand of the MC and moves behind the podium. He waits
patiently for the noise to quiet down, then begins to speak. "I thank you
all for coming for what I hope will be the first of many steps on the road
to complete harmony between the branches of Humanity.
"Too often lately have I heard the message of hate spread about from various
sources. So called Humanis groups have threatened me and those here on the
stage with me. And for what? Because we dare say that there is no real
difference between the races of Man. Be you Troll, Ork, Elf, Dwarf or Man,
we are all Homo Sapien. Too often we forget that at the root, we are all
the same.
"Groups such as the Cygnet Policlub, or individuals such as Sword of God
have been making noise about it being God's will that Metahumanity be
destroyed. I ask why? Because they are different? We are all different in
some way or other. Perhaps you can do complex mathmatics in your head, or
perhaps you can write beautiful poetry. We all have differences, but these
need not become reasons for violence. Can we not find ways that our
differences can work for us rather than against us?
"I believe we can do this. In fact, I believe that the corporations whose
representitives are here with me on the stage have already begun to do this.
Their efforts at hiring those most qualified for the positions, regardless
of species, have, I believe, opened the door to a new era. An era of
equality..."

That was quite awhile ago. The station is running some drekking program or
other, but no word on what happened at the Opera House. Anyone know what
