I was running checks on those names, from the Pearson girl's apartment?
And last night, two guys turn up. Good suits, buzzcuts, mirror shades
(like, at ten o'clock at night?). They sit there and keep making pointed
remarks about how nice my house is, and what beautiful children I have.

I ask them to get to the point, and they say they're here to protect me.
That my enquiries are putting myself and my family at risk, and they
want to keep me safe. And the less I ask, the safer I get.

They felt like spooks. I've heard rumours about some secret Agency that
uses brainwipes as muscle, and these guys fitted the profile. They
didn't show me any ID, and I don't think trying to track them is a good
idea. Call me a coward, but I have family to protect. They think I was
working alone, though. Now I guess it's up to you. I'll do what I can if
you need help, but it has to be low profile.]<<<<<
