I dont know of a better way to say this.

Shaman's and quite a few other magically actives are NOT allowed on orbial
flights for just this reason. Magic, as least as it exists in this plane,
exists only on this planet (not to get into discussion of the existance of
other races on other planets, but for the sake of arguement, agree with me
here). It doesnt seem to extend too much further then the upper atmospheres,
tho I have not had the courage to attempt magic during an orbital flight
(nor will I take them -- I dont like the sedatives they offer mages). It
has been speculated >>reference<< several times that magic just doesnt work
outside of our gravitational field.

A lot of the magical aspects of this are currently being hashed around
again on the MagicNet nodes.
