Briefly, experiments were done where Awakened strains of two common
laboratory species, a plant (_Arabidopsis thaliana_) and fruit flies
(_Drosophila melanogaster_), were grown in space to see how they would
react. Both varieties displayed significant physiological and structural
differences, but did not display any active magical abilities.
For the purposes of this discussion, the interesting result is that the
offspring seeded or hatched completely in space were all of the baseline,
unAwakened form -- the managenes failed to express during development.
Whether this reversion was caused by some inherent magical property, or lack
of one, of space or by non-magical conditions inherent to space (i.e., zero
gravity) is entirely unclear. The researchers plan more experiments, some
with different species, some in centrifuges to simulate gravity, etc., and
are studying the descendents of the experimental subjects to see if they
will reAwaken once back on Earth.
This research is not being widely publicized, probably to prevent the public
from drawing premature and unwarranted conclusions.]<<<<<
