>>>>>[Whether we are missing a key clue or not is immaterial, Lynch, the
fact that we have a murderer loose in Seattle, with an apparently
endless supply of explosive devices and targets is. OK, maybe we can
shift the investigation over to find out who's supplying him, but
without any leads or clues to this we're shot in the foot, the people we
have in custody aren't talking, either they're damned good, or they
really don't know anything.

I have suspected for a while now that this is not a one off series of
terrorist actions, it's been too selective, and too well planned, and as
you say, a considerable sum has been invested here, more than I believe
Thunda could acquire on his own, and there have been no records of large
heists involving the creep, so it's safe to assume he's not on his own.
By focusing on Thunda, I hope to crack the veil that surrounds him, and
maybe something unpleasant will fall out, by casting about randomly
looking for a sprat in a sea of herring is not a useful expense of
manpower or time, and time is something I am very short of.

Who gains? DAmned if I know. Alamos gain some notoriety, the Humanis
clubs in general get there message across without getting their hands
dirty, but the meta reprisals which are bound to start occuring soon are
going to add more flames to the situation. Indirectly, I'd agree with
you, security services, weapons manufacturers, equipment supplies and
sellers. ShadowArms dealers, Crime syndicates, some corporate benefits
are going to be obvious, they will be able to request permission to
stage larger better armed and more efficient security on their
territories to protect against this maniac and his ilk. Government
gains, in introducing tighter legislation on the transport of arms and
equipment, and travel within the continent, in an effort to stop Thunda
and others like him, Law enforcement agencies get stricter regulatory
controls and a larger degree of versatility to operate within guidelines
set by supposed security experts. Many people gain from Thunda's
activities, too many to lock it down to a particular cadre.

The more I watch the things Thunda is doing the more suspicious I get
regarding his motives. He has attacked primarily elven establishments,
albeit it was elves that first rose to his bait, but trolls and dwarves
have been left pretty much alone, though he has hit two Orc
establishments, and succeeded in placing two bombs in the underground,
though quite how he got them where he did, is curious. Don't be too
surprised if some of the crazies start making overtures to Thunda,
that's how he makes his money, he's been quiet for a while, so this
might even be a publicity stunt to drum up some business, it's been done
before, but I would think not, this is a little too extensive.

I'm not inlcined to think that it's elven nationalists, or either of the
Tir's, I am aware of one Tir agent hunting Thunda at the moment, though
I do not know his name, also, he has struck at four points within Tir
Tairngire. TTSS sent a memo through confirming that four of the twelve
explosions within the Tir over the last two months were caused by
Thunda's supply of explosives, which means the bastard is able to
transport across the border as well, again implying that you are correct
in your assumption of heavy backers. One thing though, Thunda's hatred
of metahumans is quite genuine. He has a long standing and passionate
hatred of them.Though prior to this, his efforts were much on the part
of other players, this is the first time he has openly worked under his
own name. And yes, Congress is being inundated with lobbyists calling
for tighter legislation on metahuman immigration, and tighter controls
on the Sinlessness that is rife in the megaplexes amongst meta
populations. They're calling for a forced census, and registration
tagging procedure to keep track of all meta's, so that we know what they
are doing and where, in the event of something like this occuring again.
There are also lobbysits calling for tighter arms control, and a dozen
other inter-related subjects. I almost feel sorry for the senators up
there, they're all getting an earful over this fiasco.

Corporate involvement is always something that must be considered, the
corporations are very much a law unto themselves, and will do strange
things to test new items and principles. However, the intrinsic risks
inherent in this kind of operation tend to indicate that any corp
involvement will be residual at best. I can't see any corporations
becoming heavily involved in something like this, it would be
detrimental to their extra-territorial rights. Can you imagine the
public outcry that would occur if a corporation was found to be involved
in this kind of thing? Even Aztechnology would think twice before
involving themselves.

Foreign nations. Ye gods, there's a can of worms. Drags the UCAS back
into the days of the USA, and teh middle eastern conflicts and terrorist
activities. God forbid, something like that should start up again. I
don't think Aztlan would take the risk, it would tarnish their already
shoddy reputation even further, something they can't really afford at
this time, where they're trying to drum up world support and assistance
for their own internal strifes. The Tirs, I can't see that either would
benefit much from Thunda's activities, though there are obvious
achievements from legislation and controls that they could monopolise,
but in the end, it wouldn't do them any favours. NanOg is already
mistrusted and disliked in Britain, Tairngire is in a similar situation
here... OK, maybe killing a few hundred of their own race would drum up
sympathy and support, but it seems a little drastic, just to gain some
popularity in the opinion polls. Japan, however, well, there's a nasty
situation. Seattle is a heavy trade route for them, and is pretty much
the gateway to the UCAS as far as Pacific Rim trade is concerned, but I
can't see what the Japanese would hope to gain by causing racial tension
in Seattle, aside from a possible slight increase in profit from rarity
and transportation costs of goods. Nobody is that motivated by a small
amount of profit. They were the first suspicion in my mind, as the
Yakuza and Chinese Tongs would be the first to benefit from Thunda's
activities, but again this is all a little too exotic and sweeping to be
typical of their handiwork. The Mafia don't have a big enough hold in
Seattle to be able to stage this kind of operation, and I can't see the
Don's standing for the expense that is apparent here.

Distraction. Yeah, yeah he sure is succeeding there. We've been pulled
off another investigation to chase him down, you have been involved in
this, to the detriment of other work, so if that's his purpose, then
it's working. As for missing something else, yes that's possible, the
question remains as to what, and where to look instead. Until we have a
tighter grip on Thunda, we have no idea who the hell is behind him, and
no clues to follow. Damn I hate being a mushroom.

Your refrigirator analogy is interesting, in more ways than one, if only
for the simple reason, that most people open the refirgiratorm and then
stand there staring at it, trying to figure out what they want from
inside, if we stop chasing Thunda, not only is he going to be able to
concentrate on whatever it is he's going to do next, but he's going to
stop running and hiding, and maybe slip through our fingers again, plus
we don't know what the hell we're looking at, or for.

Information on his background.... There's suspiciously little, our
sister organisation was not exactly forthcoming with data. However,
I'll give you what we've got.

+++++Include: Courtmar.hqx

You've got some heavy reading here, with a bio on the person we know and
dislike, a training video shot on location in the Florida swamps, I
won't bother explaining what happens or why, it's all pretty obvious,
and will give you an idea why I am not convinced Easy faced Thunda, a
psychological profile that we've assembled from information from various
sources, including the UCAS marines themselves... They were more helpful
than I thought they'd be, seems they don't like him too much. A
historical profile, giving accounts of incidents across the globe where
his little trademarks are apparent, and groups he was known to be
associated with were active. To give you an idea of why he hates meta's
so much, and what happened during his discharge, I've given you the
transcript and video of the court martial, there's a lot of information
in there that goes a long way to showing the kind of person we are
hunting. He's incredibly resourceful, and unbelievably dangerous. he
also has a total and utter faith in his abilities. After reading the
transcript, watch the training video again, it will help you to put a
personality and mind set to the soldier. We have little or no
information from the Seals regarding operations they used him on, as
some of that stuff is still classified eyes only. I have tried to
requisition the data, but I've been stonewalled each time. I suspect it
was the pressure he was under, during the covert ops that drove him over
the edge, that and a massive reliance on cyberware to achieve what
appears to be the ultimate killing machine. Watching the video, and
reading the transcript sent icy fingers down my spine more than once.
The incredibly diverse switches in attitude, temperament and mental
stability are frightening. One minute, he's as cool as ice, the next,
he's being restrained with items I've only ever seen used on
paranaturals. The guy is not part of our planet anymore, he's out there
where the stars don't shine.

There was a second, untagged post after this one, which from the data, I
assume was from you.

If you have cyberware that does not require immunosuppresants, or
activation chemicals in order to promote control and response times,
then you are a scary person Lynch, and that's not something I am happy
about knowing. The value of something like that is beyond my imagining,
and I must confess that the concept of people being able to afford such
items is beyond belief. I have not, in 15 years with the FBI, met
anyone with cyberware of which you speak. I have heard tell of it, but
never witnessed anyone wearing it. That makes you, Easy, and possibly
Thunda, worth more than Zurich orbital, and that is plainly ludicrous.

However, further investigation by the surgeon in charge of the autopsy
has not revealed any control surfaces within the neural areas that would
be associated with activation implants to enable the use of the
cyberware we witnessed. There is little doubt in my mind that Easy took
the head of whomever she was fighting, she seems utterly convinced of
it, and doesn't strike me as someone easily fooled. Think about it,
after you've read the data sheets, you'll see that the guy is loaded for
bear, he carries more cyberware that a trid has circuits, yet there is
not indication whatsoever of any neural interfacing that would normally
be associated with such cyberware. I've got the doc pushing some more
intensive tests on the remains, to see what we can turn up. This has
gone beyond strange, to the realms of fantasy. The implications here
are that the cyberware of the character Easy was fighting, was natural,
it appears to be a part of the man's system, activating purely on
nervous impulse with no interface modules, no contact chemicals, no
nothing. The stuff was to him, what claws are to a cat. Again the
indication here is that either Easy was lucky, or something went wrong
with whoever or whatever it was she fought.

We've gone over the immigration data, and it appears the system was
hacked. The guard swiped the travel pass, and passport, and it came up
clean. Records show that he travelled under an assumed name, one,
Wilber Hayvert, a computer salesrep on a holiday jaunt. Passing airport
security as a known face may not be hard, but it still requires some
considerable effort on the part of a decker to hack into the system,
airport security and data access is not exactly a corner book store,
it's a massive and extensively interlinked system that is tied into
local law enforcement and international database agencies. It would
take even a good decker, several days to hack the system and hide all
traces of the incoming personality. Not impossible, but far from easy.

As far as we can ascertain his last sequence of posts came from the
Renton district, we've brought that down a bit further and can say with
some certainty, that it is near the Bellevue border, which should narrow
the search pattern somewhat. I don't know what the guy is using, or how
he's doing what he is, but it's making the tracers nuts, they're running
in circles chasing shadows and paper dragons, only to find stupid little
messages left for them, and having to backtrack, to start again. Hell
I'm glad I'm not a decker, it's too much like hard work <g>.

RE: Collins. You'll find him an interesting case. He leads an elite
division of bughunters, and I mean _leads_, he's no backseat commander.
He has a lust for life, that is overwhelming, and a hatred for invae
almost as passionate. As far as I am aware he's been fighting the damn
creatures for nearly 6 years. Always with the troops, and always
walking out. His men will follow him to the gates of hell and beyond if
he asked them, and will defend him over the slightest infraction of
whatever they consider a slur. You should enjoy meeting him, and
believe me, he's an endless source of information, experience, and
stories.

You relationship is complicated, which basically means your a freelance,
what is termed in other areas as a loose cannon. <g> I have no problems
with what you do for a living Lynch, but beware of advertising your
situation to others, there are some who would resent your freedom from
constraints and licenced disregard for procedures. As for weaselling in
with the Feds, as I said when you arrived, you assistance is
welcome.]<<<<<

Lynch, you would do better to concentrate on the job in hand, rather
than long drawn fanciful conversations with D'Arkan. The sooner we get
Thunda, the sooner you can return to your personal empire.
