VISUAL:
The camera image shows an ara of Tacoma dockside, quite at the late night hour
indicated by the moon's lowering position, barely visible in the clouds and
drizzle. The camera appears focused on an area of water just below the docks.
On the edge of the pier, just visible in the shot's periphery, are some skin
wrapped bundles.

AURAL: Okay, memo started. The summoning ritual should work, I hope... as
far as I can remember this is the right spot. Lets hope I don't foul this one
up.

AURAL: <a low chant, wordless, and yet with the impression of communication,
seeming to build itself through several cycles to a climax.>

VISUAL:
The bundles glow, briefly, and then crumble into dusty ashes, which scatter in
the rain and wind.

AURAL: <a strained voice> Manifest.

VISUAL:
A section of the water in the camera focus rises up, forming a pseudopod which
arcs out towards the camera, hanging and seemingly watching back to a point
just off the side of the lens.

AURAL: Phew.... Spirit... I need a favour. There is a ring, or I hope there
is a ring, silver, about this big...

VISUAL:
A hand comes up into the camera image, holding a simple brass ring, thickly made

AURAL: ... it should still be on the bottom, somewhere. Find it for me, please,
and bring it up to the pier. <the voice's strain seems to be increasing.>

VISUAL: The pseudopod withdraws into the water again, leaving the surface
rippling gently.

VISUAL: The same manifestation rises up out of the water again, arcing up
towards the edge of the pier, something dully shining at its tip. As the lead
edge of it touches the pier....

AURAL: Thankyou... I release you...

VISUAL: The protrusion collapses immediately, splashing water all over,
including the lens of the camera.

I thoguht I'd blown it - even such a supposedly low strength summoning nearly
had me reeling and falling in. Which perhaps wouldn't have been so bad, as I
could have ordered the spirit to get me out again...

At least it did get the right ring. Now time to clean it up and polish it
properly.]<<<<<
