aforementioned matrix security person and Jenny in the avatar-guise of
Vernier managed to smooth whatever tracks Maintenance and I left behind,
so that little run never "happened." If a big check for chopper fuel and
AP rounds hits a desk around here, it may raise a few eyebrows, so don't
bother. I get paid enough to be comfortable as it is. Besides, all I was
doing was taking a malfunctioning helo out for a test flight in neutral
territory. The weapons and ECM systems were put through their paces and
everything checked out nicely. Besides, THE COMPUTER says that I didn't
even leave until after that chopper was spotted on the news, so I couldn't
have been there, right?

End of story. And seeing like the old man was in the thick of it...I
don't think he's going to pry too hard.

Think of it as payback for what I owed you.

As for the party, we'll be there with bells on.

Seems like lots of people are dancing on Thunda's grave. Got invited to a
little private swaree last night by the old man and an "acquaintance" of
his. You should have seen the cosmod that guy called his wife. My dear
merciful lord. Could just about make a girl...nevermind. We cracked
open a bottle of "the good stuff" (champagne, that is) from the old man's
cellar and really lived it up at one of the classier restaurants downtown.
Am I going to have to dress up again for the party later? (I _hate_
heels.) See you there.]<<<<<
