J: ...Anyway, the point is that Margen was righteously angry: he said
he'd been paying us off.
L: You think we've got a leak?
J: Not unless someone in SIGA used the handle 'Ploughshare' up until
last year.
L: Oh, shit.
J: Margen liked the dirty stuff. Usually used SINless people to indulge
his preferences. He lent four of his bozos to his "SIGA contact" and
never heard from them again, a little before his contact changed.
L: Changed? Of course... so, did he give you a new name?
J: 'Combine'. He reported to someone called Combine. Dead-drops,
unfortunately, and cold before I could pursue. What interested me
was the timescale. When I ran four faces by Margen, he identified
four of his little helpers. These guys: watch the tape.
L: Easy in action... these were Margen's hitters?
J: Ploughshare asked him for four people who'd enjoy dealing with the
family of a 'nuisance'. These four slaughtered an Ares consultant's
family, and Easy killed them. I wish to hell she was easier to get
hold of at the moment.
L: Patience. She's good for wetwork, I'd guess Ploughshare just used her
to silence the workers, didn't expect her to tie up with SIGA. She'll
be in touch again soon, if she's ever in touch again. Any idea where
she is?
J: Last I heard, Philly, in a pretty fluid situation. Don't know much
about it, except something got the Legion into town.
L: Ouch.
J: Could be they're just due some R&R.
L: Yeah, right... a problem for us?
J: The Legion are pros. They'll keep any carnage discreet and try not to
hit bystanders, they know not to get the Feds involved. I'm still
clearing cases in Seattle. You?
L: A few more days. Alex hasn't been pulling his weight-
J: With what happened to Zach, are you surprised?
L: Hey, Jase, easy. He's been hunting for something on who hurt his
friend. His Agency work suffered. Big deal, we're covering. Just held
us up a while. I'll be with you by Monday.
J: Anyway, Margen was paying good money to Ploughshare, then Combine, to
be given names of "enemies of the people" who he and his brute squad
could 'punish'. Think you could get a trace on that?
L: We'll see what we can do.
