I can understand your reticence in wanting to be within windward of
Abraham, that is one overblown pain in the ass. If he keeps up that
prattle about Goldsmith, I don't expect him to live out the month. Some
people out there are still sore about that particular subject. It would
be best if you weren't seen to be involved in anything concerning that
particular asshole.

Damn, that explains why I haven't been to confession for so long, I'm a
child of Satan... I should have guessed. <g>

I've got a couple of agents tailing him, working a switchback pair, so
they shouldn't lose him too easily, they're good at their job. I can't
extract him until he crosses a particular line, so far he's been careful
not to cross that line yet. However, if there's another couple of
attempts on his life, I can get Seneca to extract him and stuff him into
a _very_ deep hole in the ground. He's made some serious accusations
against the security forces in Seattle, and against SIGA in particular,
which means the DAO is likely to be extremely interested in keeping him
alive long enough for the court case. They'll want the federal and
security presence in Seattle vindicated. His death would not achieve
that vindication. Either that, or he gets on the trid and makes a few
more funny statements, and I can extract, with prejudice.

Nukes: I remember you running a check on the warheads when Thunda got
his missile casing, so I was fairly confident that none had recently
gone walkies, any Broken Arrow scenario, and we usually get informed
pretty quickly.

As for the illegal work on the weapons, that doesn't surprise me, it
confirms my suspicions that the destruction of the house was a cover for
the removal of something. I'm curious to know why so much was left
behind, unless that is to keep us locked up on the site fumigating and
sealing it.

Thanks for the permission, I'll get a team up there in the morning. I
doubt we'll turn up anymore than your boys, but an extra pair of eyes
always helps.

So far...

One shut down on a refurbishment program, reactivating, recasing and
priming one, if not several nuclear devices with a yield of 50kt apiece.
Eight dead bodies (the workers no doubt). I find it curious that they
were buried. That strikes me as very strange.

There are two possible scenarios here. One: That the site was
discovered by unfriendlies, raided, and the units removed, killing and
burying the personnel in the process. The explosion... maybe an
accident, the heat and force from that explosion should pretty much
vapourise anyone close to it, but some evidence may be forthcoming from
the wreckage.

The second, is that someone is playing a dangerous game. It strikes me
as illogical to shut down an operation, remove the goods, kill and bury
the personnel, then destroy the site. it would make more sense to leave
the bodies in the lab, and destroy them along with the explosion. Why
take the time to bury them?

Was there anything strange about the manner of the burial? What race(s)
were the corpses. How long were they in the ground? (plus a large
number of other questions. <g>) Burying the bodies is not SOP for a
person who doesn't want witnesses, killing them, yes, burying? That's
strange.

Right so we have approximately eight nuclear devices somewhere in
Seattle. They should leave a _large_ trace on the underground. Someone
somewhere is transporting them, someone else is storing them, if they're
seperated then several people or groups of people are involved. ALso,
they must have a purpose.

Extortion? Unlikely

Terrorism? Possible, but also unlikely. Nuclear terrorism is one
dangerous cookie to play about with. It's been done in the past, but
the concerned individuals have usually suffered greatly as a result.

Sale? Most likely.

I'd be inclined to consider that they are for sale, it's the most
logical and profitable use of these devices. Someone is going to try
and pass these off to another organisation. That leaves a lot of
openings for delivery. Not like the good old days, when one could point
a finger at the middle east and be done with it, now it could be anyone
from Humanis to Europe, to the Far East, and all points between. I'll
have a word with Seneca and see if we can get some agents into the
streets, with luck something may get whispered in the right ear.

As for targets. Well, pick one of the big eight. They might pay a
considerable sum to prevent that sort of destructive force from making a
mess of their facilities. The government, well, that's a possibility,
but it seems extreme somehow. As for the decom boats. That would be
the mark of insanity. Any explosion in that location would result in a
radioactive cloud settling all over this area, Seattle would cease to
exist, much of the NAN areas bordering Seattle would be destroyed. If
the wind is in the right direction, either Vancouver or Portland could
be threatened. It also stands a damn good chance of iradiating much of
Makah and Salish as well.

Even the most extreme of the "Rights/Terror" organisations aren't that
crazy. It would affect them as much as the population here. And that's
not a scenario I would be happy to consider. There's no way we could
evacuate the city in time, there'd be mass panic, thousands of deaths,
and a lock up on the Intercitie/Interstates. Which means millions of
people would be consigned to a painful death. Christ in a handcart,
that's a _bad_ thing. And we thought Thunda was a nuisance.

Alright, this has taken on a different priority now. I'll have to talk
to Sheridan, get a trace put on the international weapons dealers and
see if anything is moving, or if some of the big timers are mobile.
I'll get Crawley to sort out some manpower. I may need to talk to
Marian Tudor, I'll need access to the manpower she has, I'll keep the
details "Eyes Only" for now.

I'm sending you Johnson, Goldberg, Franks, Hooper, Kreutz and Hammond.
They're good men, make 'em work for a living.

+++++Include: Achilles LTG. RTG
+++++Include: Achilles access codes, Alpha2c grade.

This will give you access to the datafiles and situation reports. If
you feel the need to access them, you have full clearance, I'll get the
forms signed and sent to Coppinger ASAP. Keep 'em quiet though, they're
not for publication, if you know what I mean. I'd like to say it's nice
to work with you again, but it isn't, not this way.]<<<<<
