D: I saw the transcript. How credible do you rate this source?
C: She gave us Ginelli, General. I'd say she scores fairly high.
D: I presume, no luck tracking her.
C: None whatsoever. The disguise suffices to defeat our attempts.
D: So, we consider her data credible and plausible. What do you intend
to do and what do you need from me?
C: Primarily, run interference on the Hill for us. We may have to be a
little heavy-handed, even blatant: the threat justifies it: we're
already making the TV news. While that's not too great a problem yet,
it could grow if it continues, and a Congresscritter deciding to get
involved... Just make it clear that there is a serious threat.
D: The media problem was well handled, though. There's such revulsion at
Goldsmith's work that even the full footage of his demise would
probably garner overall support. And having the Bureau's support
helped.
C: We aim to please. Anyway, the Lynches are in Seattle, and Monroe and
Karlsbruhn are trawling for the materials you would use to refurbish
nuclear devices. We're pulling other assets, co-ordinating the
search. For once we're lead agency: last time that happened
domestically was Manchu.
D: Let's hope this goes as well. What else can the Committee do for you?
C: Lynch wants a Department of Energy analysis team standing by in
Seattle, in case they get a lead. Lilith requisitioned a Commander
with pilot on plus-five alert at each of McChord and Everett, to
airlift any HAZMAT clear. Monroe has some access requirements, and
wants permission to exceed normal matrix ROE.
D: I'll back all three, but run the matrix work past me first if
possible. If it's urgent, then do it and we'll argue the toss later.

C: Not right now.
