Unlikely that they were hoping the bodies wouldn't be noticed. In a
situation like this, where the civilian authorities are involved the
investigation will go over the site with a fine toothed comb looking ofr
possible reasons/motives, which means the disturbed soil and freshly
turned area would most likely have been spotted, just not so quickly.
Nope, I still can't justify the burying of the bodies, somehow that just
seems illogical. A damn good fire and explosion will do more to prevent
identification of bodies than burial, whether quick lime is added or
not. It just doesn't add up. Why take the time and risk to bury dead
people, when the building is due to be torched. Just leave the bodies
near the device, and poof, instant cremation. Something is strange with
the method. Almost a reverence, as if the killer decided on a clean
christian burial, though I'm not convinced on the guilt trip concept.
Wierd. You may not like leaving dead men face up, but believe me, there
are a large number of people out there who don't share your
sensibilities.

I'm inclined to consider that profiteering. The involvement of the
Humanis doesn't add up. We've been going over the sit reports from the
Goldsmith episode, and there's something strange in that. As you so
rightly pointed out, he lost his anti metahuman thread half way through,
and didn't pick it up again until the end. That in itself was odd, but
the involvement of "outisde influence" was the big question, who was
backing him. Subsequent investigation indicates that the Humanis
involvement _was_ a sham. They had no idea of the impending disaster
that Thunda presented to their public image. Also, some further
information has turned up from the analysis of Thunda's remains. We
were very disappointed that only a pile of ashes was left, but the
debris gave us more information than I expected. Thunda was killed
before you fired that last shot. he was already dead when the bullet
hit him. Something, forensics think it was some sort of signal, or high
frequency pulse, released a chemical into his blood stream, that
chemical reacted with an agent already present, a few seconds later, the
body torches. That implies that he had some expensive backing, not to
mention his access to manpower, corporate personnel and equipment. It
may be possible that he was being used to distract us from the main
problem.

The question then becomes "What were we being distracted from?" Now, if
we look at this from a logical point of view.

Around the time that Thunda was running riot, somebody brought into
Seattle, specifically Redmond (while we were chasing around Puyallup) a
truck, containing radioactive material. That isotope had to be
contained within a secure lined vessel. The amount of material
transported governing the size of the vessel. Someone somewhere, should
have noticed this. Even small containers for radioactive materials are
pretty heavy. Also, a considerable amount of equipment had to be
installed in the house, and then the lab technicians, several people
regularly filing in and out of a property at certain times of the day
and night. Everett isn't that busy, in comparison with Downtown, or as
"introverted" as say, Redmond. I'll send a few more agents up to the
area and see what can be turned up, somebody somewhere had to see
something.

I agree that this has been going on for some time. I should imagine the
initial planning was in place over a year ago, as it would take some
time to find and secure the materials, and "quietly" acquire the
equipment necessary to manipulate the devices and materials. And a
considerable investment in money. It may well be that if we find the
people who constructed these devices, we may well find Thunda's backers.
They are obviously people who plan long term and aren't shy of expensive
investments.

Well, let's hope that Heversham has turned up something. I'm pretty
much feeling around in the dark here. Until something turns up on the
streets, regarding either the sale or movement of the devices, we don't
have much of a trail to follow. I'll keep the hounds out sniffing
around, but I don't expect a quick solution.

Well, there's work to be done. Later.]<<<<<
