>>>>>[That's the way it appears to be, Thunda was dead the minute he was
surrounded in that warehouse. We have similar incidents on file, but
nothing as severe as this. Whoever set this up didn't want too many
clues laying around, that's part of the reason I'm tempted to *consider*
a potential link here. The whole operation seems to reinforce your
theory of an alternate motive for his presence. A grand scheme to make
eveybody, security, private and media look in completely the opposite
direction. A scheme, which if planned that way, worked to perfection.

It is a relief that the creature is finished, but I wonder, is he? Or
does the legacy live on? Too many loose ends, not enough answers. We've
pretty much run dry on leads and most of the trails panned out into
nothing, a very impressive operation was behind Goldsmith, and someone
who didn't want to be noticed.

As regards your comments on the varisty, no arguments here. Though I
think that whomever is behind this most recent operation, is starting to
get a little overeager, mistakes were made at Everett, mistakes that
should have been avoided, I wonder if they've been employing talent from
outside the organisation? Local street talent? You have a better tap
into the shadows than we do, we're still looked on as the "big bad
brother" so mouths close up when they see us coming. Get in touch with
a couple of your friends, see if you can find out if anyone has been
bragging about a cushy job recently. I'm still chasing down the weapon
link, though no luck so far. There are a number of assassins who use
flechette weapons for killing, because of the intrinsic silence of the
weapon, but they're mainly European, and to my knowledge there aren't
any recent European entries into Seattle matching anything in our
databases.

The thought occurs to me, that if our opponents know the relevant
agencies so well, there may possibly be a link to them through the
agencies, with the little we have to go on so far, it's difficult to run
a scan through the stores to see if any logical links turn up, maybe
later when we uncover something. However, there may be a possibility
that someone who has either worked for, is working for, or sits on the
board of one of the divisions on the Hill, may be tied into this. With
the shake up that went through the Hill, there's a hell of a lot of very
nervous people up there. Not wanting to draw attention to themsleves
for fear of the corruption witch-hunt that occured over the last few
years.

I know of a couple ambitious people who may not be beyond this sort of
behaviour, but they are under close observation, and do not appear to be
directly involved in this. Maybe in your travels through the sewers of
the Hill, you may have come across someone who would fit the profile?

God help this country if this situation sparks another outcry in
Congress of lax laws. The last thing the streets need is licenced
vigilantes breaking the cities up on a whim. It wouldn't take long
before the streets reacted and we suffer the anarchy so many SF writers
seem fond of, the hold we have now on order is tentative enough. Any
more sparks, and the Night of Rage and Food Riots, will look like a
family cook-out.

Don't kid yourself into thinking that sort of department no longer
exists. It was my personal displeasure to clean one out two years ago,
before my transfer here. They still exist, though only in small cells
now.

If you want to be a live fire lesson for Maxim, then it is your decision
to take that risk, you know your own abilities better than anyone. But
with the enemies you have already, is this such a good idea? There may
be a more subtle way to achieve that aim, without awakening the beast.

Have a good flight, and have a drink on me. Catch you later. Don't let
the deaths of the old-timers play on your mind. Accept it, and let it
go, it happens sometimes, but you may want to consider finding a way to
curb that blood lust of yours. I don't think this time, we can afford
to lose too many witnesses, or invloved personnel. Or you/we will be
doing the job _for_ our enemies.]<<<<<
