>>Personal mail - Targa7 encryption routine engaged<<

If the list of candidates is as large as you say, then life is going to
be hectic for a while. It may be worthwhile if we employ some outside
assistance ourselves. I am not able to interrogate datastores in the
Hill, without proper authorisation, however, I have an idea.

I'm going out on a limb here, and if I'm wrong, it's going to cost more
than my head, but. During the Goldsmith episode, several high class
personnel from the Shadows were involved. It may be a reasonable idea
to employ their skills again. I can provide the entry passwords and
sub-process routines to make HIll matrices accept their presence, if
they would be prepared to run through the matrix as a freelance
searching for links to the current information we have. My people
certainly can access considerable amounts of data, and compile search
routines that may reveal links, but someone inside the system who has
experience of this sort of work would be better suited and more able to
access areas we don't have access to. If you can contact two or three
of these people, I will meet them privately, and off record to explain
what we need, and what we expect of them. Obviously some financial
renumeration will be provided for their assistance, provided they do not
access areas for their own benefit.

All of this will be totally off the record. Anything these people turn
up will be inadmissable as evidence, but we may be able to fudge our way
around that. However, it just might show something that my people will
miss. Obviously there is some risk involved in this, but I'll do what I
can to assist and cover them. At the same time as they start operating,
several of my people will access the system and create some noise to
provide a certain amount of distraction, that should pull any "live"
traces away from them, allowing them to integrate into the system more
effectively.

I have not, and will not inform the Hill of our involvement in this
situation, mainly as I cannot guarantee the integrity of such
acknowledgement.

I really don't see any other way we can hunt through and see if anything
is kept on record that will give us a clue as to the involvement of DC.
If anyone there is involved, the _must_ be keeping records of some sort,
if not the operation, then maybe contacts, phone traces, something.

Search routines, encryption decoders and system identifiers will be
provided by my people, on the understanding that these programs and
routines will be destroyed after their use. I may also be able to
"acquire" a couple of IC breaker routines that may assist them.

re: Maxim.
It is possible they'll listen to you, they may even coa straight answer,
"the company line" that is pretty much expected, but if they hate you as
much as you say, "accidents" happen, though they may occur at
"suitable"
times. Anyway, here's hoping you get somewhere with that line of
questioning.

re: Bar.
I will trust Lillith to get the results then, she has struck me as
efficient, so I expect that any answers present there will be dug out.
<g> In a small way, I'm relieved Easy isn't available for that job,
she's a little too "enthusiastic".

OK, we have managed to trace most of the other employees, they're
standard street people, medium skills, no formal training no current
employment, Only one has previously held a job for longer than a few
weeks and that was an electronics firm here in downtown, I've got people
going through his records now.

We have a partial trace on the weapon, and should have confirmation on
that item shortly, though I'm doubtful of the value of the information
we will gain from it. The person responsible for purchasing the
property has panned out as we expected. Completely anymous, faked Id,
false references, a complete dead end. The description we have matches
a man who turned up in the Sound. He apparently drowned after a
celebratory drink in a dockside bar. I'm having the autopsy run again
to confirm, and make certain no foul play is involved. I have a feeling
that all the information we're going to get out of Everett has been got.
We're going to have to explore new avenues. I have to say, I'm not
happy about invading DC datastores, but it may be that we can follow a
couple of our information links through those databases.

The "dealer" I spoke of earlier has arrived in Seattle, and will begin
following his contacts through the system shortly. With any luck we may
get a result, though I feel that considering the trouble someone has
gone to over these articles, they are for personal use. The more I look
at what evidence we have, the less I feel that they are for sale. If
they are not for the controller of that lab, then they have already been
sold, and are on their way to the buyer now, which means we've pretty
much lost them. Scanners and other surveillance equipment has been set
up at airport cargo areas and in as many dockside warehouses as we can,
they're mainly located around C&E depots, so if the articles are not
moved through C&E we won't see them. Coastguard is scanning cargo and
transportation vessels that are coming in and out of the Sound, but I've
not told them what they're looking for, they have a signal to recognise,
and inform either my office or Coppinger of anything matching that
signal, but I don't hold much hope of them finding anything, the things
we're searching for are too small to give off a decent reading through a
ship's hull, especially if they are packaged correctly. Also, the
amount of traffic and cargo shifting through Seattles' docklands is
masssive to say the least, it's quite possible what we are searching
for may slip through regardless of whatever precations I place. Without
causing a panic and informing other agencies, I don't really have the
manpower available to check everything. Without involving the Hill, I
can't gain access to the S/4 and RE-3 series Satellites, so that's ruled
out. Also, I've got agents placed at the main exit points into the NAN
and Tir areas, on the off-chance that sombody might make a mistake and
try to ship them out that way.

That's about all I can do at the moment, at least until something else
gives us a more concrete clue.

Any further communications between us regarding the involvement of
outside assistance will have to go through personal mail, please use the
Targa7 routines I gave you when we were chasing Thunda. Any company
business can go through usual channels. The only other person who is
aware of my suggestion is Crawley, and that is through necessity, but he
can be trusted.]<<<<<
