Don Greenhaigh finishes reading off the sports news, sets down his
notes, takes off his glasses: he looks genuinely upset.
"And, for all of us here at Turner News, a tragedy. TNN field reporter
Kelly Robson was killed in the line of duty, while covering fighting in
the Middle Eastern nation of the Yemen. Kelly had served with TNN for
five years, and had brought us coverage of many warzones and crisis
areas in that time."
The screen flicks to a shot of Ms. Robson, Greenhaigh voicing over.
"Kelly was a professional news reporter, trusted by colleagues and
respected by audiences. This tragic loss should remind us all that war
is not a spectator sport; that while we watch, men and women are dying."
The camera cuts back to Greenhaigh, who is sitting with his head bowed.
There is a slight pause.
"Go to the damned commercials." the anchorman says, almost too quiet for
the mike and without looking up.
