not work? Schools were run by the government for a long time, and they
actually worked quite well when they received adequate funding. And if the
system I'm talking about was run right, it would work better than what
we've got at the moment, at least. And it would put an end to that constant
"nature vs nurture" debate.
The number of children who grow up in abusive homes and are scarred for
life by their up-bringing demands that _something_ be done. The families
who scorn education and thus lock their children into a cycle of poverty,
the ones who sell their children to brothels, the cults which consider 13
to be marriagable age... there is far too much drek out ther happening to
children. We consider them to be an accessory, not really human, and we
treat them like favoured pets at best. No-one I know has the necessary
qualities to bring up children right, and yet anyone can have a child. The
system isn't working.]<<<<<
