Strange - I never cared for this birthday party of a person dead for
two milleniae. But now, sitting here under glazing sun, seeing these
hard-as-stone Rusanov's rebels gather around twigs they found
somewhere, and a fire, singing Christmas songs, and exchanging presents
they gathered, made themselves, or spared of their rations, really
makes me long for home. Well, _a_ home.

Damn, I nearly cried when Lynch's squad came over and handed us that
field flag, Odin's head with a raven and a wolf...

When I look around, I see the others - awfully quit. Orion and Chasity
are the only one 'on work' - they run sims of matrix combat, if I
understood Orion right. When one scans the vidscreen, it looks like
they're having just a party in that unnatural world...

Both Mac and Fohdytoo are with the other soldiers, singing those sad
songs, and exchanging war stories - If I got that right, Sam even found
a Rebel he fought against a few years back, somewhere in Skandinavia.
They killed a whole bottle of Vodka while laughingly told each other
bits from that campaign. Strange - payed enemies, now the best buddies
the spirits may imagine.

I am still worried about Celt... She still mostly keeps to herself, the
only person who's presence she seems to be able to stand is Okami. From
what she tells me, she supposes Celt ... uh, what did she say? ... is
now nearer to magic, and moved from mankind. I guess that means she
followed the way to higher magic, what those number-crunchers call
"Initiation". Well... I went that way, too, but it seems the Sea is a
much more hard mastress then Wolf is, or will ever be. Still keeps me
wondering if that's a way I'll have to walk someday...

Chaos is the center of attention - he does fiery tricks, just sometimes
slowed by Cindy. An interesting link between the two - both pretend to
be just mage and spirit, but there's more. A magician in love with his
ally... I bet that makes him headaches when he thinks about it. What do
the hermetics call spirits? Abstrakt subconscious constructs of the
summoner's mind... ye spirits, did I laugh when I first heard that,
until I noticed they were _serious_ about it.

This is Christmas, and we are in Yemen, waiting for the final attacks.
